Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. He was born of a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35), and He grew up in submission to both God and man. God declared with His own voice that Christ is truly His Son who brings Him pleasure (Matthew 3:17). Jesus was, and continues to be, fully God and fully man. He was tempted like we are, but unlike us He handled it without sinning. He was sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21). He walked His whole life in obedience to God the Father. He is the eternal Word of God who took upon Himself the human form. He is before all things, and through Him and for Him all things were created (John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:17). The fullness of God dwells in Him, because He is the invisible God. We believe that those who know the Son know the Father. He is the perfect representative of the Godhead and God Himself. He was humble and meek. He was the perfect Man who exhibited love and justice in all His ways. We believe Jesus’ teaching was the true Word of God. We believe in His miracles, His substitutionary atoning death, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension into Heaven. We believe that He is currently sitting at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us. Jesus atoned for man’s sin once and for all, because in man’s imperfectness they need a perfect Man to atone for their sins.
God
God has revealed Himself to us through His infallible and inerrant Word. Thus, we only know what He has allowed us to comprehend Him. There is one God who has eternally existed in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God is self-existent (Exodus 3:14), the Creator and the Sustainer of all creation. He is the transcendent, triune God. He is Spirit (John 4:24). God is absolutely perfect in His being, and He is not in need of anyone or anything. God is infinite and eternal. He possesses all wisdom, power, holiness, and truth. He is just and good in all of His ways. God is love and merciful. God loves His creation and gives Himself for us (1 John 4:8). God is unchangeable in His being (Psalm 102:27). However, He reacts differently in His relationship with His creation and responds or feels differently in different situations. He is omnipresent, meaning He is present everywhere in His whole being. He is sovereign over all His creation.
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who comes from the Father and the Son. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper (John 14:16), teacher (John 14:26), and guide. He is the third person of the Trinity. He was fully involved in Christ’s ministry and continues today. He is the life-giver. He empowers believers to fight against principalities of darkness. He intercedes for believers, distributes gifts as He wills, and continues to purify believers for God’s service. He convicts the world of sin and he affirmed the believers that they are children of God (Romans 8:16, Gal 4:4-7). The Holy Spirit convicts humans by the Word of the gospel, which enables them to turn from their sin and profess Christ. He regenerates believers and unites them to Christ. We believe all Christians were baptized by the Spirit in the time of conversion. He is our guarantee from God (Ephesians 1:13-14).
Man
We believe that by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin. Thus, all men have sinned, are condemned, and deserve punishment (Romans 5:12, 18). This is why God sent His perfect Son to fulfill the requirements of the law on our behalf (Romans 8:4). We believe the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom. 6:23). We believe that man were created in the image of God, fell from his high and holy estate by eating the forbidden fruit, and as the consequence of his disobedience the threatened penalty of death was then and there inflicted, so that his moral nature was not only grievously injured by the fall, but he totally lost all spiritual life, becoming dead in trespasses and sins, and subject to the power of death.
Gospel
We believe the gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. His suffering and death is the providence of the Gospel for our sin, His resurrection is the power by which the gospel comes to us and by which we preach the gospel for others to be saved, and His ascension is the justification or the glory of the Gospel in which we are sure that the Gospel is real. The Gospel demonstrates God’s love and justice toward us, and it is also a mystery. No one can be saved apart from hearing the Gospel which is only proclaimed in the name of Christ. It is the power for salvation (Romans 1:16). There is no other name by which man can save but the only, Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).
The Bible
Inspiration is the human author being under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to record God’s word (2 Peter 1:20-21). We believe in verbal-plenary inspiration in which we believe the Bible is both God’s very words (Hebrews 4:12) and the human author’s words (Deuteronomy 1:1), who was inspired and superintended by the Holy
Spirit to write Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16). We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. Both the human authors and their words were inspired by the Holy Spirit as they record Scripture. As a result, the Bible is both God’s and the human authors’ very words. The writers were in the full consciousness as they were under the super-intention of the Holy Spirit when writing scripture. Nevertheless, the Bible is God’s divine revelation to His people. The Bible is the ultimate source of authority because it is God’s divinely inspired word (2 Timothy 3:16-17). “All the words in Scripture are God’s words in such a way that to disbelieve or disobey any word of Scripture is to disbelieve or disobey God.”1 Scripture has authority over morals, to command, and to convict. Scripture is inerrant on everything it claims, and it does not contradict or error to whatsoever claims it makes. “The inerrancy of scripture means that scripture in the original manuscripts does not affirm anything that is contrary to fact.”2 We believe scripture is the truth because it is God’s word (John 17:17). Scripture is objective, and it is its own interpreter. Scripture contains all basic messages that God wants his people to understand.
Relationship
We believe Jesus calls us to have a pure relationship with him and with one another.
Learning
We believe we are called to faithfully study the word of God, to know about Him and to know Him relationally. This allows us to be able to tell others about Him.
